SYLLABUS

Our philosophy on exam preparation is to be sure students understand the fundamental issues in each subject.  The exam is tough.  Student's prepared to answer the fundamental questions can devote more time to the advanced questions on each subject.  Student experience provides the knowledge to answer more advanced questions.

 

Lectures are are held on Mondays/Wednesdays (M/W) in the evening and twice each Tuesday/Thursday (T/TH).  Each lecture is 2 hours long.  The T/TH morning session runs from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm, and the evening sessions run from 8:00 pm to 10:00 pm.  All times are Eastern US time zone.

COURSE OBJECTIVES 

At the end of this course students will be able to:

  1. solve most fundamental safety problems
  2. recognize common occupational safety hazards
  3. describe appropriate controls for common occupational safety hazards
  4. select professional safety reference materials

PRE-REQUISITES 

Students will benefit the most from this class if they have: 

  1. completed an undergraduate or graduate degree in a physical science, engineering, or health and safety program, and
  2. at least 4 years professional experience in the health and safety field.

The Board of Certified Safety Professionals (BCSP) requires candidates to have completed at least a 2-year degree in Safety or a 4-year degree in any subject from an accredited institution. See the BCSP website (www.BCSP.org) for details.

COMPLETION REQUIREMENTS

Students are required to complete the following list of items to receive certificate of completion for the course within 30 days after the course ends: 

  1. Listen to each of the 16 lectures (participate live or review recorded lectures)
  2. Submit all homework assignments
  3. Score at least a 70% or higher on the final exam.

Students who do not meet the completion requirements will receive a certificate of participation.

GUARANTEE

If you meet the conditions below and do not pass your exam, you may repeat the online course at no cost provided the course is offered and space is available.  Conditions:

  1. You must complete the course
  2. You must take the exam within 12 months of completing the online course.
  3. You must mail a copy of your exam results notification to Bowen EHS, Inc. within 30 days of receiving the results.

COMPUTER REQUIREMENTS

The online classroom currently only works in the Windows Operating System.  Your computer must be able to install a small program that allows communication with the web classroom.  Some students need to work with their IT departments to allow access through corporate firewalls.
