Changes Are Coming to the CHMM Exam!

Written by

The Institute of Hazardous Materials Managers (IHMM) has issued a new "blueprint" for the Certified Hazardous Materials Manager (CHMM) certification exam, effective July 1, 2013. All examinees who sit for the CHMM exam on or after that date will take a test that conforms to the new blueprint, regardless of when they applied for admission to the exam. The new blueprint will change the scope, subject inclusions, and the numbers of questions from each "duty area", as compared to the existing blueprint. An additional change that becomes effective on July 1, 2013 is an increase in the professional experience requirement from 3 years to 4 years.

Our popular CHMM Online Review Course, which runs April 2 – May 16, reviews the subjects covered by the existing blueprint as well as elements of the new blueprint in a series of live, interactive online sessions led by Ernie Stracener, CIH, CSP, CHMM. The class roster is quickly filling up, but there are still seats available for those who are ready to tackle the CHMM challenge! Nearly all of our clients that report having taken the exam after participating in our review course earned the CHMM credential on their first try at the exam.

The IHMM recommends that applicants apply at least six weeks prior to their intended test date, but earlier is always better. Once an applicant has been approved to sit for the exam, he or she has 18 months to sit for their exam. Upon receipt of IHMM's acceptance of an application, approved applicants should schedule their exam with their testing center as soon as possible to ensure that their desired testing date will be available at their local testing center.
