PASSED CSP! BOOM! Wearing a n95 for ~3+ hrs was the most comfortable thing about that exam..... I was in the CSP Prep course and I took a TON of practice tests through BOWEN and there is a CSP exam prep app. I feel that I had to pull from my personal experience rather than the Bowen material for a significant chunk of the population - if the Bowen class spent a couple slides on something there may be a lot more that you need to know about that topic. If I was fresh out of school with limited experience, I wouldn't have been able to pass it.

I passed the CSP Exam! Please thank the CSP instructor for the great class. Once again, I only used your materials to pass the exam. I have been recommending your review classes to all my former coworkers. For me, I couldn't have passed the CIH or CSP exams without your classes because I wouldn't know how to start studying. I needed a focused online course that was real time so I can ask questions. I have very limited time to study, so your courses were perfect.

I passed [the CIH exam] and I wanted to say thanks so much for everything Russ. Your course was an amazing investment, and it really helped me understand what I needed to know. This is also my first online live course, and I was a little skeptical at first, and I think courses like this can only work when you have a dedicated instructor - which Russ is.  I also appreciate everyone in the forums posting all your questions and generating your discussions. Some of those materials really helped me a lot. This was a good experience for me. 

Well, to be honest, I didn’t feel very confident walking out but when the results printed I PASSED. I would say there were significantly fewer math and formula related questions than I was expecting and prepared for and many more programmatic and system-related questions, only a few requiring unit conversions. Thanks to Patrick and the other Bowen employees, as well as those who were in my prep class for sharing their knowledge. Onto CSP...

I passed my CSP! I passed my ASP around a year and a half ago after completing the ASP/CSP course. At the time I had a lot going on in life with my first little one at home and did not take my CSP right away like originally planned. I decided that what would be best for me was to complete the ASP/ CSP course again starting last February. As busy as my life has been I needed the structure of the class to keep me focused and moving in the right direction. I do not know if I got as much out of it the second time around as the first obviously but it helped me focus and gave me study structure. It also provided me with a group of other people working towards a similar goal which helped keep me motivated and moving forward toward the CSP. The test itself I found to be a little frustrating with %90 of the questions asking for what is the BEST answer and giving four options saying almost the exact same thing just worded slightly different. My best advice is to eliminate one of them if you can and then go with your gut on the remaining. I am not a math person at all but was actually relieved when a math question would come up because at least there is a definite answer and I would know if I got right or wrong. If I were to study for it again I would focus much more attention on the relationships between the Safety director, front-line supervisors and management. I briefly studied those areas but it was a lot more in-depth than expected. There were many questions related to training, defining responsibilities and establishing accountability for line supervisors. Thank you, Mike and Bowen, for all the help both the first and the second time I took the class and best of luck to everyone taking the test in the future.

I passed the ASP exam! Yea!!! Some of these posts helped me, so I thought that I would share my study experience. Maybe this might help someone else.

First of all, I participated in every Bowen ASP-CSP class session. Most of them I reviewed again to make sure that I understood the topics well. Once the classes were over, I discovered and did the practice quizzes about 30 times (no exaggeration) until I was continually getting 80% to 90%.

I also purchased and studied the "ASP Safety Fundamentals Exam" by Mometrix. This also had 200 exam questions that I copied and cut into strips that I used as flashcards. I carried them with me with a rubber band, so I could study them while I had a few minutes. I went over those questions at least 15 times. This was a big help as well.

I also purchased the BCSP practice exam. They only give you 100 questions, but it gives you an idea as to how the questions are written on the exam. I got to where I was getting around 95% of the questions right after about 10 to 15 times. I looked at the ASP Blueprint. It didn't help. The only thing I got out of it was that you had to know everything.

I scheduled the exam 6 weeks after the last Bowen class. There were not very many days available. I studied almost every night for those 6 weeks. I was not going to say, "I should have studied harder". I couldn't! I did not know what else I could do. I was burned out from studying. I suggest that everyone take the exam within a month of completing the Bowen class.

This was my third time. The first time I was just not prepared. The second time I came away with 105 and needed 110 to pass, so close but so far away. Today I felt confident and sure I was going to pass. I used the ASP-CSP course and took all the tests on the website I could. I took so many that I ran out of available questions. I would take a quiz every other night and on the weekend I would read a chapter and review the weeks quizzes. A week before my exam I reviewed all the quizzes and watched youtube videos on Manslow, Heinrick, and Hertzburg. I reviewed short films on environmental disasters and worked on math problems. It worked for me! I PASSED TODAY! My emotions are very low normally but getting the paper from the proctor made me so happy I teared up a little bit and was surprised by that. I have worked towards this goal for a while now and now it has paid off. Thank you Bowen!

I’d like to say thank you to the Bowen staff for their part in helping me dial-in my CSP prep. Online test prep of any kind can be a precarious thing; you make a financial commitment and put your faith in someone else’s curriculum. In this case however, my online review gave me the direction and, perhaps more importantly, the peace of mind I needed to sit poised in the testing center this morning. I was ASP-exempt courtesy of my CP-12. Still, I chose to register for the combination ASP-CSP review to help diversify my prep. I suspected because the combination course was longer (8 weeks) I wasn’t really giving up much of the CSP domain-oriented material. Of course, I’m glad I got to absorb the ASP content (it came in handy); it was an exceptional learning opportunity for any practitioner but, the amount of safety management and training related material that we covered and what CSP exam-takers need was noteworthy. I was very pleased overall. Aside the course, my prep included the app, my own flash cards, and plenty of practice quizzes. Good luck, all!
