Client Feedback: CIH Exam Courses

We love getting honest feedback from our clients. In addition to letting us know how we are doing, they let us know what worked or didn't work for them while preparing for their CIH exam.

I just received the congratulatory confirmation email from the IHMM stating I passed. Good to have this in the rearview mirror now. Such a relief. The Bowen CHMM course was ideal. The breadth of chapters/subjects really prepared me for the exam. I listened to the lectures/classes repeatedly after the course ended and drilled the information into my head: at work next to my computer in the car, and at home. I highly recommend the CHMM review course to everyone.

I just took the CIH exam and got a preliminary pass. Here is my take on it. I think the Bowen course is great and if you are very familiar and comfortable with it you would be fine. I had also studied with Datachem and I think it is not really useful because the questions are much more complicated than the test. I feel like the calculations are very simple in the test. If I had to study for it again I would concentrate on the TLV book, toxicology and the Bowen course.
Good Luck to everyone taking it in November!

Preliminary Pass!! Here is my advice from this whole process: Bowen's class is awesome. It prepares you very well for the CIH exam, especially the math! But you can't rely on it solely to get you to pass. Bowen's material will get you darn close to the passing score but to guarantee a pass you will need to read up on other materials. Studying 24/7 like a lunatic and not having a life does not help. It actually makes you doubt your answers on the exam or makes you misread the questions causing you to fail (at least for me it did). On my second time around, I made sure I had a life. I only studied about an hour a day during the weekday and if I got a chance during the weekend. Remember life still goes on even while studying for the CIH! Lastly stay with it, even if you fail. Keep on taking the exam until you pass. You will be surprised at how much you learn from each attempt. Best of luck to you all!

Second times a charm!!! I took my CIH test today and was so nervous. I didn't even look at the screen while waiting for the results. Thanks Russ for being patient and a great facilitator!!

I still can't believe it but I passed my ASP examination today. I was positive when the proctor handed me the results form, that it would say that I had failed. Other people's posts helped me prepare for the exam, so I thought I would share my experience as well. My study plan involved reading both the Brauer and Yates books cover to cover. I highlighted anything that seemed important enough to know. I then used the ASP exam blueprint to see what chapter's correlated to the exam. For each topic that would be covered on the exam, I typed out everything I had highlighted in the books. I took the BowenEHS ASP practice tests about 50 times and attended some of the online study sessions. I then ordered the ASP Self-Assessment book. I felt very confident that reading these books, using the BowenEHS website, and completing the self-assessment would have me fully prepared for the test. However, I felt the information covered in the exam was night and day compared to the questions asked in the self-assessment. Good luck to everyone! Thank you BowenEHS!

I wanted to let Will Pate know that I sat for the CHMM exam and I passed! I took his online CHMM review course in the Spring of 2016. This was an excellent class! Even after waiting almost a year after completing the review course I went back and listened to each lecture over again, took lots of note cards from this lectures, used the Bowen CHMM app on my iPhone, read the IHMM book, and studied DataChem CHMM Prep extensively. I would highly recommend this review course for anyone planning to sit for the CHMM. Thanks Will for a GREAT class.

I passed my CSP today (passed my ASP 2 weeks ago)! Thank you SO much to everyone @ Bowen and all of my fellow ASP/CSP "preppers"! The study sessions, emails, quizzes and countless hours on the app definitely helped prepare for both exams.

Sat for the CIH exam and got the green checkmark - Preliminary Pass! Phew! Thanks for all of the help, education and fun provided by Bowen EHS staff. I feel certain I would not have been successful without completing this preparation material.

Phew! Cleared the CSP yesterday. Feels great. Thanks, Bowen EHS for the practice questions, quizzes, and study sessions. I also referred to many books and literature. Study hard guys, you will make it. Special thanks to William Pate for the tip regarding the calculator, one has to change the mode of the calculator to classic from mathprint. Otherwise it messes up the answer. One important thing to note is the calculator setting memory gets erased for every question, so you have to redo the setting every time.

After taking the ASP prep class last Sept, I kept putting off taking the ASP thinking I wasn't ready. Finally "drew a line in the sand" and stuck with a date in January and passed first try. I thought of taking another prep course for the CSP, but Bowen's advised that I just take the test with what I've already learned, so I did......and passed!!!!! There is absolutely no way I could've been successful on this journey without the help of Bowen. My suggestion is to set a date to take the test and stick to it. Don't keep putting it off like I did. Also, the Brauer book is an excellent resource, especially on the subject of hazard analysis and fault tree analysis. Thanks to Bowen and Nicole for everything you've done. This is a huge accomplishment for me and my career.
