Client Feedback: CIH Exam Courses

We love getting honest feedback from our clients. In addition to letting us know how we are doing, they let us know what worked or didn't work for them while preparing for their CIH exam.

Read on to find out more.

We are serious about maintaining the integrity of the CIH exam and the certification process. Please help us by not posting any specific exam questions or exam content in your comments. If you do, we will have to modify or remove your feedback. Thank you for respecting this.

I wanted to express my gratitude for the work all you put in and patience shown throughout this process. The course was a complete success. The verbal feedback I received from the participants was that it exceeded expectations.

Now that I have been able to navigate through your member center, I can also see the value that it will add to exam preparation. The training material, including being able to show calculator key strokes on the screen, was very useful as well. Thank you Todd for tending all of my solicitations for phone calls expeditiously and Margaret for ensuring we had all the materials and needs met all the way to the very end.

As far as Mike Edens, he demonstrated excellent presentation, didactic skills and flexibility to changes in course schedule. He was ever-present that his audience had English as a second language, and that US terms might be missed by some. He adjusted perfectly and I believe this was part of the success of the course. He also had plenty of examples and war stories to keep the class interesting and is certainly well versed in all topics related to safety and hygiene. The format used of short breaks every hour (versus one or two longer breaks) was well received and one I hope to copy.

In all, congratulations for your superb service, content, and delivery.

I was so relieved when I saw the words PASS this afternoon on my (CSP9) exam! I had 118 minutes remaining. I took 1 break after I went through the test once. I highly recommend you take at least one short break - you start to go crossed eyed after a while. Ha!  My journey to the CSP started in 2015. I took the ASP review course with Colleen in January 2015 and took the ASP that April that same year and passed on the first try. Unfortunately, I was unable to take the CSP right after due to unforeseen circumstances.

I started studying for the CSP in November 2016. I went back through all of the ASP review courses from 2015 and reviewed questions from the Bowen site over and over and over. I went through all of the webinars as well. I also used Quizlet to create my own questions and reviewed them ad nauseam. I used the BCSP blueprint to give me a guide as to what to study. I re-read the Brauer book, but honestly, I can't say it helped me much. I went to a few study sessions on the Bowen site as well. Special thanks to Mike Edens and all of the Bowen team for your help! Could not have done it without your support!

I took you prep class this fall (well the one that started in July) and received a preliminary pass after the exam. I wanted to thank you and your staff for all the help and guidance. It wouldn’t have been possible without you all.

I am happy and so relieved to report that I sat for the CIH exam today and received a preliminary pass! Such a huge relief! Thank you to everyone at Bowen but most especially Russ! I passed the ASP on my first try!!! The exam was extremely difficult despite completing the online review course, HOURS of independent studying and countless practice quizzes/tests. Much heavier on Environmental and Hazardous Materials than I expected. Be sure to know Electricity concepts and calculations inside and out. Lots of questions needed unit conversions. All in all very hard, but I made it!!!

Well, to be honest, I didn’t feel very confident walking out but when the results printed I PASSED. I would say there were significantly fewer math and formula related questions than I was expecting and prepared for and many more programmatic and system-related questions, only a few requiring unit conversions. Thanks to Patrick and the other Bowen employees, as well as those who were in my prep class for sharing their knowledge. Onto CSP...

You and your support staff are truly amazing and should be proud of the services provided to further careers of professionals around the world. Thank you for assisting and being a part in my journey. I received a preliminary pass Saturday on the CIH examination.

No doubt the ASP Prep course (March-April 2019) played a major role in helping me pass the ASP exam. Took me a total of 4 hours. I had several typical math/science based questions in total. Like others have stated on this forum, heavy on the safety/management systems and/or theories, ergo, and a smattering of occupational health. I mainly used the course, Bowen flashcards, the Brauer book and completed numerous practice quizzes/tests. Thanks Russ for the great course and superb resources!

I took my ASP last month and had the opportunity to take my CSP today despite not having finished my ASP/CSP online review... I passed!!! I can't emphasis enough how great the Bowen online quizzes are in prepping for the tests and the book Safety and Health for Engineers. It was intimidating, but a cover to cover read with notes and answering the practice questions really got me ready. Good luck to everyone reading the forums prepping for the CSP. Don't let the test get the better of you. Go for it, and good luck!!!
