Calculating Chemical Exposure Levels in Employees
How can we calculate the acceptable chemical exposure levels in employees in an emergency? Employers have to assess the type and magnitude of employee exposures to respiratory, dermal, and ingestion hazards before selecting the protection strategy. Several organizations established Exposure Controls and Personal Protection levels, but which one should we follow? Emergency Response Planning Guidelines (ERPGs) are air concentration guidelines for single exposures to agents and are intended for use as tools to assess the adequacy of accident prevention and emergency response plans, including transportation emergency planning, community emergency response plans, and incident prevention and mitigation. During this webinar, we will explain the difference between toxicity and hazard, review exposure limits, and learn how to calculate the Permitted Daily Exposure (PDE).
