Sampling Strategies for Quantitative Exposure Assessments (QtEA)

As an OESH professional, you may be required to develop a quantitative exposure assessment strategy and risk management program. The overall goal of any exposure assessment program is to protect members of the workforce by controlling occupational exposure to workplace hazards at an acceptable level.
A sound exposure assessment strategy includes exposure decision criteria and sampling techniques. During this webinar, we will take you through the steps to create and implement a solid strategy. 

Objectives

Upon completion, participants will be able to:  

1. Create an exposure decision criterion in their exposure assessment strategy and risk management program.
2. Implement an appropriate sampling technique based on the purpose for sampling.
3. Describe the differences in size-selective particulate sampling.
4. Determine the appropriate sample media for sampling particulates and gases/vapors.

Lecturer

Kent A. Candee, CIH, CSP, ARM, CPCU

Kent has a bachelor’s in Chemistry from the University of Northern Iowa and a Master’s in Industrial Hygiene from Montana Tech. He has over 30 years of experience both as a technician while serving in the United States Air Force as a Bioenvironmental Engineering Technician and professionally. His professional career has included performing consulting and analytical laboratory analysis and performing loss control services for an insurance company. Kent is currently at Los Alamos National Laboratory with lead roles in developing procedures, policies, and guidance documents for exposure and risk assessments, silica, and indoor air quality, implemented by field ESH professionals. Other areas he supports are hearing conservation, noise evaluations, oxygen deficiency hazards, pressure safety, respiratory protection, personal protective equipment, ventilation, and monitoring equipment. He is a Certified Industrial Hygienist, and Certified Safety Professional, and obtained the Chartered Property and Casualty Underwriter (CPCU) and Associate in Risk Management (ARM) designations.

2. Score 70% or higher on the quiz.
3. Complete the webinar evaluation.

No certificate will be awarded to participants who do not meet the above completion requirements.
