Passed the CIH exam! First, I want to thank Rick for a wonderful class last fall in NC. In addition to taking the class in person, I also listened to the recordings over and over. At the gym, in the car, etc. When in doubt, listen to lectures. There were many, many questions where I had Rick's voice from the lectures playing in my head, telling me the answer because I practically remembered the lectures. The exam was tough! I thought I over prepared but was surprised how hard some questions were. Overall, the math was really easy. Bowen's math problems are very good prep for this test. However, there are not many math problems. The hard part were the wordy questions. I won't get into details but there were a handful of questions where they would say, "when doing or developing X, what would you do first, or which is the most important factor." Which are tough because you have to really think what is the best answer, and all 4 answers sound like they are important. The other tricky part was semi-detailed questions on the most random aspects of IH. Very hard to prepare for those. Most of those were either judgment calls or I just happened to have experience. Honestly, I thought a handful of questions were unfair... but those could have been the experimental ones for all I know. My best advice is to try not to remember facts as much as understand the concepts of what each rubric is all about. The Bowen course is a fantastic baseline. Use it as a guide and expand on the subjects it covers. The Fleeger guide helps some, the TLV booklet is crucial! Read it! and the Burgess book is also really good. If you can't get a copy, just Wikipedia search the industries and watch youtube videos. There is a lot of good content.

Passed the ASP!  Started studying in earnest in mid-January, using the Brauer and Yates books, primarily. Took the ASP/CSP combo online review session from Bowen that started in February. I am fortunate in that I have very strong employer support, so I was also able to access the Datachem service and purchase the SPAN review books.

Overall, regarding the test: Math was approximately the percentage of the test I expected. Virtually all of the math I had was covered in sufficient depth by the Bowen online course, so any extra practice I got using the other resources was a bonus. The remainder of the test was a combination of what I'd call "safety trivia."

For all the access to study materials I had, I can tell you that easily 1/3 of the questions were items that were not covered specifically in any of the commonly referenced materials. But then, if you look at the BCSP reference guide reading list, it's pretty lengthy so there is no shortage of material to draw from. It truly is a test that's a mile wide by an inch deep.

Of all the items I had access to for reference, I would rank them as follows:

1.  Bowen ASP/CSP online course and resources. Sample questions most accurately matched up with what I was presented with in style/format.

2.  Datachem software. Simply a huge volume of study questions to work from and the ability to do "study sessions" on topics that I felt weak in was a great benefit.

3.  SPAN workbook. Overall the material was pretty good, but it seemed like older, re-purposed questions.

I passed through brute force repetition of questions and study topics. Now on to the CSP!

Have officially joined the ranks! Sat & passed. Seems 3rd time was the charm for this IH ( the first attempt was a terrible failure in fall 2013; spring 2014 was a successful failure in that I knew I needed to prepare more fully as I missed passing by 6 questions). Want to thank Bowen EHS for setting me up for success--but for those of you who were not successful this go-around, know that you still have to put in the work to fully benefit from what is provided in the Bowen course. Keep at it and don't be discouraged. And congrats to those who were successful!

I would like to thank the Bowen team for helping me pass both the ASP and the CSP exams. I post my study helps a couple weeks ago when I passed the ASP if you would like to know more. I know I could not have done it without your help in the ASP/CSP Review class and the extra encouragement. I will definitely recommend your courses to others seeking to further their safety education. I also like the extra webcast that you offer as well.

Phew! Cleared the CSP yesterday. Feels great. Thanks, Bowen EHS for the practice questions, quizzes, and study sessions. I also referred to many books and literature. Study hard guys, you will make it. Special thanks to William Pate for the tip regarding the calculator, one has to change the mode of the calculator to classic from mathprint. Otherwise it messes up the answer. One important thing to note is the calculator setting memory gets erased for every question, so you have to redo the setting every time.

I finished the CSP review a couple of weeks ago and sat for the exam. I truly thought the CSP was harder than the ASP and I had been told the opposite by friends. It took me 4+ hours to finish and the ASP took about 3+ (if memory serves). I worked the homework a couple of times and I worked the BCSP review exam 3 times. Thanks to Bowen and for the prep and good luck to the folks that have yet to sit for the exam.

Passed my CSP yesterday after passing the ASP in July, both on the first try! Woohoo! The ASP-CSP class (with Patrick, the May-June class) helped a ton with getting me on the right path and really breaking down an overwhelming blueprint. Before it I just didn’t know where to start when it came to assessing my knowledge and where I needed to improve. I did a practice exam almost daily using the CSP question bank. It was challenging but I feel that the practice tests really helped me understand how things would be asked on the test. Thank you Patrick and Bowen!!

Passed the CSP exam and now I can breathe a huge sigh of relief! While it was extremely challenging, I felt well-prepared thanks to the ASP-CSP Online review course. Thank you to Russell Bowen and Patrick Lee! The course helped immensely in preparing for the CSP.

I would like to say THANK YOU VERY MUCH to Russ, Nikki and the Bowen Staff for helping me and being patient with me when I was preparing for this very challenging exam. It was definitely a humbling experience. I wouldn’t have been able to do it without them and my very supportive, smart, funny and patient study buddies. For those who are going to be taking this exam...I cannot stress enough how instrumental the Bowen material (lectures, study session, practice quizzes, posted material, etc.) was to my success in passing this exam. Follow everything Russ says...from what to read and what flashcards to make, how frequent to study, to resting before the test. For the actual test, I skipped all the math and did them at the end. It’s very effective. Thank you again for this experience.

Passed the ASP! The review course played a significant role in this achievement. My advice is to review all the lecture recordings as a part of your study schedule, there was information which was helpful that I missed during the live sessions. Level Up......Next mission will be the CSP. Thank you , Patrick Lee, for the exemplary synchronous training and Jenny for the great assistance rendered at the on-set.
