Happy to share with you my preliminary pass. Thank you all and Russ for the help in preparing - this forum was a good tool. To pay it back here are a few things that may help: 1) if there is a topic Russ “reviewed” that you don’t have experience with, it might be good to seek out extra training in that area; 2) Don’t let questions on the exam that you’ve not studied shake you up. There will be things you didn’t review - expect it and don’t let it impede your testing ability on other questions; 3) Study big-picture items that make you a good industrial hygienist; 4) pay attention to where the practice problems came from in the quiz bank and study there!

I took the CIH exam today and got that green checkmark! Thank you, Russ, for once again playing such a key role in my success! Thanks to you I've passed the ASP, CSP, and CIH all on the first pass. As others have done, I'll leave a few things for those who will be taking the exam soon...I spent about 4 months studying ~2 hours/day. I took the Bowen CIH mini (50 question) exam about 20 times during my 4 months and averaged low 80s. I took dozens of the 5-question exams in chem/basic science and radiation (my weak points). In retrospect, I wish I hadn't spent so much time studying the really difficult math problems since I found that the actual exam math problems were fairly straight-forward. I found the William Burgess book "Recognition of Health Hazards in Industry" to be extremely helpful. I didn't bother with the nitty-gritty within the book and only took out those golden nuggets that highlighted important information for the hygienist and seemed like good exam questions. I accompanied this book by watching YouTube videos on various processes like electroplating, iron and steel production, semiconductor production, degreasing, etc. I also used Quizlet CIH Tox cards that others have made. Good luck everyone! You can do this!

Bowen was very important in helping me gain my ASP in July of 2016 and my CSP in April of this year.

I took the CIH exam today and received a preliminary pass. I had to stare at the screen for a second to realize I had passed..the big green circle with pass in it was not getting through. I would like to thank Russ and the rest of my classmates for their help because without them I would not have been able to pass. The workshop was awesome and got me pointed in the right direction on where to focus my energy. Thanks.

I am proud to announce that I have passed the Spring 2017 version of the CIH exam. This was my second attempt. I kept studying and didn't get discouraged when I failed it the first time I attempted it. Now - back to my normal life. It's so strange not having my head in a book every waking moment. Good luck to those taking the exam this Spring!

I received a preliminary pass on my CIH exam!!!!!!! It took me a few tries but I finally did it. The Bowen course was essential to passing, I could not have done it without the material and all the advice! My journey began in 2012 when I began studying for it and took a few years off and began studying again in 2016. I failed it in the Fall of 2016, Spring of 2017 (8 months pregnant) and then again in the fall of 2020. Finally, after much focus and dedication, I am proud to say that I passed the CIH exam! Do not give up!! You only fail if you never try!! Again, this would not have been possible without the Bowen Course and material. Thank you 1,000 times!!!

I finished the last ASP-CSP review course at the end of March and took the ASP test. I would say about half of the questions requiring formulas were provided and about half required you to know them.  Practice questions/tests were very helpful for me, I did hundreds of the Bowen review questions. One "surprise" on the test was many of the questions weren't exactly plug and play, they required interpreting the skills you learned throughout the class. It was definitely important to understand the various concepts. I would definitely recommend taking the test as soon as you can after taking the prep class. I really want to thank Patrick for his engaging and informative lectures and for his after the class support. As I was neurotically preparing in the last few days for the test I emailed him several times, he always replied with well thought out and detailed responses, I am very grateful to have had Patrick as a resource.
I am currently registering for the CSP test and look forward to taking it as soon as I can.

I took my ASP last month and had the opportunity to take my CSP today despite not having finished my ASP/CSP online review... I passed!!! I can't emphasis enough how great the Bowen online quizzes are in prepping for the tests and the book Safety and Health for Engineers. It was intimidating, but a cover to cover read with notes and answering the practice questions really got me ready. Good luck to everyone reading the forums prepping for the CSP. Don't let the test get the better of you. Go for it, and good luck!!!

No doubt the ASP Prep course (March-April 2019) played a major role in helping me pass the ASP exam. Took me a total of 4 hours. I had several typical math/science based questions in total. Like others have stated on this forum, heavy on the safety/management systems and/or theories, ergo, and a smattering of occupational health. I mainly used the course, Bowen flashcards, the Brauer book and completed numerous practice quizzes/tests. Thanks Russ for the great course and superb resources!

Thank you very much!! Your course was really and truly invaluable. My biggest worry when facing the task of preparing for the exam was not knowing where to focus my efforts, how best to study for it, and how in-depth I needed to go with the various rubrics. The prep course helped navigate all of those issues and I think it made me much more effective with my time than if I had waded into this solo. The study sessions were also so very helpful!! Thank you to
you and your amazing team for the resources you've pulled together. I'll be recommending your course to anyone in my professional circle considering challenging the exam.
