This great basic text addresses the fundamentals of safety, legal aspects, hazard recognition and control, and techniques for managing safety decisions. Dr. Brauer spent many years as the executive director of the BCSP. If you thoroughly study this book, you should do well on both the ASP® and CSP® exams. We highly recommend this book.

This is the first real safety management book that we've come across. It is well-written and definitely worth reading for safety professionals or industrial hygienists. Many of the management theories are discussed in the text. This is an excellent book.
ASSP no longer publishes this book. The 3rd edition is the last one.
This is another excellent resource for the ASP® and CSP® exams. It provides detailed explanations of material most likely to be evaluated on both exams. The one hesitation we have about the book is the heavy reliance on Wikipedia in the reference citations. The material is strong and contains a large collection of important information in one place.
