From Rivets to Respirators: an Aviation Maintenance EHS Primer

Join us on Sep 18, 2025 at 7:00pm (19:00) ET

Available until: Sep 30, 2026

Aviation maintenance presents unique and complex environments that differ significantly from those found in general industry. EHS professionals supporting aviation operations must understand hazards, including chemical exposures, confined space work, fall hazards, and electrical safety, all while aligning with FAA, OSHA, and DoD standards. Many safety professionals may lack focused training on the nuanced risks associated with aviation maintenance activities such as aircraft fueling, panel painting, or composite material sanding. This presentation bridges that gap, preparing EHS professionals to proactively identify, assess, and control hazards unique to aviation maintenance, ensuring regulatory compliance and worker safety.

Objectives

Upon completion, participants will be able to:

  1. Identify primary hazards in aviation maintenance tasks
  2. Describe key regulatory frameworks
  3. Evaluate the effectiveness of safety controls, including PPE, electrical and confined space SOP’s, and ventilation systems
  4. Recommend EHS best practices for maintenance tasks to promote safety and minimize injury
