Working in Extreme Heat: Recognition, Controls and Prevention Strategies

Join us on May 19, 2026 at 8:00pm (20:00) ET

Available until: May 31, 2027

Extreme heat conditions present serious and growing risks to worker health and safety across many industries. As heat waves become more frequent and weather patterns become more unpredictable, it is essential for employers and employees to understand how to effectively manage heat-related hazards in the workplace.

Heat stress can result in dangerous conditions such as heat exhaustion and heat stroke, affecting not only workers' well-being but also productivity, decision-making, and overall job-site safety. Without proper controls, these risks can lead to increased errors, incidents, and injuries.

This webinar will provide practical, easy-to-apply guidance for recognizing heat hazards, evaluating exposure risks, and implementing effective control measures. Participants will gain a clear understanding of how to protect workers, maintain compliance with relevant standards, and confidently manage operations in extreme heat conditions.

Objectives

Upon completion, participants will be able to:

  1. Identify signs, symptoms, and risk factors associated with heat stress.
  2. Recognize environmental and workplace conditions that contribute to extreme heat hazards.
  3. Describe appropriate control measures for heat exposure, including engineering, administrative, and PPE strategies.
  4. Reference relevant guidelines and resources (e.g., OSHA, NIOSH, ACGIH TLVs) for managing heat-related exposures.
  5. Develop basic strategies for implementing a heat stress prevention program.
