Movie Set and Clapboard

The Role of the Industrial Hygienist in the Movie Industry

Presented: Feb 27, 2024  Available until: Feb 28, 2025

The movie industry presents hazards such as exposure to hazardous materials, noise, and other potential health risks. Industrial hygienists can mitigate these risks by implementing health and safety measures on movie sets to protect the well-being of cast and crew. In addition, industrial hygienists must understand the regulatory framework and ensure compliance with standards that apply to the movie industry. In this webinar, Dr. Farcas will describe the unique challenges in the movie industry and share what he learned from his recent experience as the IH on a movie set.

Upon completion, participants will be able to:

  1. Recognize the significance of industrial hygiene in ensuring a safe and healthy work environment on movie sets.
  2. Identify and comprehend the specific health and safety challenges posed by the dynamic and varied working conditions in the movie industry.
  3. Describe the importance of collaborative efforts between industrial hygienists and film production teams in integrating health and safety practices.
